When would I start?  
What about the day-to-day? Sales Representative is responsible for defined products and for growing/ developing and maintaining sales of these products within the industry Group operation on a national basis to all existing and new customers. The Sales Representative is also responsible for offering technical assistance to customers in his/ her region and for technical assistance on products within his/ her product range to all customers.
-Make regular customers and sales calls;
-Ongoing new business development;
-Support and manage marketing and sales to maximize revenue targets;
-Prepare annual sales forecast and targets;
-Develop and maintain customer relationships through regular visits and call planning;
-Promote sales of all products within the industry Group range;
-Control working capital by effective management of inventory/stock levels;
-Effectively resolve customer complaints;
-Initiates projects and drive products on a developmental basis;
-Produce weekly reports on customer visits and post on intranet or circulate to Management;
-Conduct sales and budget reviews on monthly basis;
– Develop and maintain information on competitors within the industry;
-Sample follow-ups;
-Monitor debtors and assist with problem debtors where required;
-Provide ongoing feedback to Industry Group Manager on activities;
-Provide feedback and reporting on products for Industry Group and Branch Meetings;
-Liaise on a regular basis with other Industry Groups to ensure cross-selling and sales opportunities are exploited.

Quality Assurance Manager – JHB

Quality Assurance Manager’s direct reports: Laboratory Technicians
Overall purpose of the job: assures consistent quality of products by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice systems; validating processes; providing documentation; managing staff.
• Improve customer satisfaction by ensuring that all products conform to agreed specifications and that only products which comply with the applicable approved standards are released from production to the warehouse and subsequently to the customer.
• Ensure that inspection sheets are completed, deviations are evaluated and reported to production for action.
• Follow up on complaints, respond as per work instructions and perform root and trend analysis on complaints.
• Comply with all product and machine specifications.
• Develop/review and implement quality management system procedures and work instructions.
• Take corrective and preventative actions whenever necessary and provide support in diagnostics, corrective and preventative actions to the Section Managers (Production).
• Ensure:

  • that specifications and standards for existing products are continuously updated, approved and accurately recorded;
  • the availability of accurately controlled and documented specifications for recipes, machine   parameters and products as well as procedures and work instructions from all departments;  
  • that laboratory is equipped with relevant equipment and that it is installed and commissioned;
  • that quality trend monitoring parameters are defined and implemented;
  • R&D approval on final product specifications and samples;
  • continuous improvement through measurement and analysis using the CAR system to its full potential;  
  • accurate and on time reports as and when required;
  • that the quality management system is active, shows continuous improvement and is maintained guaranteeing continuous ISO accreditation. 
  • Assist with problem identification and solving as an integral part of the quality function
  • Identify critical performance parameters for all strategic raw materials, implement and maintain a procedure whereby all strategic raw materials are assessed by the Quality Department prior to acceptance and possible acquisition as well as implement and maintain a procedure for approval of a new strategic raw material supplier.
  • Ensure ongoing communication with suppliers on problem areas and possible improvements.
  •  Conduct/coordinate internal Company audits as well as external customer audits and evaluate these audit reports.
     • Communicate and discuss quality deviations.
     • Institute, coordinate and communicate corrective and preventative actions taken.
     • Proactively update all necessary certification to avoid any possible interruptions in smooth operations.
    – Degree in Quality Control, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
    – At least 5 years’ relevant Quality Management experience in reputed manufacturing companies.
    – Fully familiar with all relevant legal requirements for laboratory and production operations.
    – Knowledge of good manufacturing principles, root cause analysis, auditing and ISO 9001.
    – Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
    – Must possess initiative.
    – Strong organization, planning and problem solving abilities.
    – Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, teamwork and negotiation skills.
    – IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

R & D Chemist – CT

An exciting opportunity exists at Environ Skin Care for an experienced R&D Chemist to research and develop technologically advanced new products:

  • Conducts research in order to develop innovative and effective products for Environ with respect to:
    • New raw materials
    • Alternative raw materials
    • Novel and existing packaging materials and formats

You will be instrumental in working with the senior management team specialising in bespoke product development and formulation, significantly contributing to commercial targets and planning processes.

Key Responsibilities
New Product Development
– Working with the commercial team on NPD briefs taking from concept through to launch
– Working with customers on briefs, technologies, textures and innovations
– Oversee and co-ordinate the research and development of new products as per request.
– Development for formulas through stability, micro and compatibility testing
– Quick turnaround time for formulations, method of manufacture and finished product specification of all approved products
– Compilation of product dossiers on final project approval to include all technical data on raw materials researched and used, all development formulae, the final approved formulation, the product costing, the ingredient listing, the master batch manufacturing record and any other relevant notes pertaining to the project.
– Responsible for researching and developing new products per quarter to add to general formulation database.
– Present new ideas and ‘blue sky’ formulations to new and existing customers
– Keeping up to date on trends and attending cosmetic seminars and events
– Pushes the boundaries to live and breathe innovation

 General Management
* Acting as duty chemist across the factory during manufacturing process being a trouble shooter and solution focused.
* Manages the development of team by ensuring that project tasks are in line with each member’s key competency areas and interests when possible.
* Keeps development team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.
* Keeps project manager well informed of status of development effort and serves as liaison between development staff and project manager
* Ensures technical team owns the development lifecycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout the project
* Communicates and enforces coding standards and reviews performance of developers and administrative members.
* Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
* Manages technical resources within budget and project schedule.
* Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members.
* Manages client interaction and expectations regarding development efforts.
* Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties.
* Communicates effectively with CRM (customer facing team) to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions.

* Initiates stability and compatibility testing of all new products as well as existing products when necessary

* Proven experience in formulating in the skin care, personal care and colour cosmetics sector.
* Educational requirements include a high school diploma, and BSc or National Diploma in Chemistry or equivalent experiential training/experience.
* Coschem Diploma will be an added advantage.
* At least 5 or more years’ experience in Toiletries/Cosmetic R&D environment.
* The company may administer dexterity or academic tests to ensure the applicant will be able to perform duties efficiently. Required skills can include the ability to sort, test, disassemble and reassemble products or goods.
